Synchrotron Self-Compton Afterglow Closure Relations and Fermi-LAT-detected Gamma-Ray Bursts

چکیده

Abstract The Fermi Large Area Telescope (Fermi-LAT) Collaboration reported the Second Gamma-ray Burst Catalog (2FLGC), which comprises a subset of 29 bursts with photon energies above 10 GeV. Although standard synchrotron forward-shock model has successfully explained gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglow observations, energetic photons higher than GeV from these transient events can hardly be described in this scenario. We present closure relations (CRs) self-Compton (SSC) adiabatic and radiative scenario, when central engine injects continuous energy into blast wave to study evolution spectral temporal indexes those 2FLGC. consider SSC evolving stellar-wind interstellar medium (ISM), CRs as function parameter, injection index, electron index for 1 < p 2 ? . select all GRBs that have been modeled both simple or broken power law found satisfy significant fraction cannot interpreted even though require an intermediate density profile (e.g., GRB 130427A) atypical total given amplify magnetic field ( ? Fermi-LAT Observations of Gamma-Ray Bursts

The Large Area Telescope (LAT) on the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope observatory is a pair conversion telescope sensitive to gamma-rays over more than four energy decades, between 20 MeV and more than 300 GeV. Acting in synergy with the Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) the other instrument onboard the mission the LAT features unprecedented sensitivity for the study of gammaray bursts (GRBs) in te...

Gamma Ray Bursts and Afterglow

The origin of GRBs have been a mystery for almost 30 years. Their sources emit a huge amount of energy on short time scales and the process involves extreme relativistic motion with bulk Lorentz factor of at least a few hundred. In the last two years, "afterglow", emission in X-ray, optical, IR, and radio was detected. The afterglow can be measured up to months and even years after the few seco...

X-ray afterglows of gamma-ray bursts in the synchrotron self-Compton dominated regime

We consider in this paper the effect of synchrotron self-Compton process on X-ray afterglows of gamma-ray bursts. We find that for a wide range of parameter values, especially for the standard values which imply the energy in the electrons behind the afterglow shock is tens times as that in the magnetic field, the electron cooling is dominated by Compton cooling rather than synchrotron one. Thi...

Bounds on spectral dispersion from Fermi-detected gamma ray bursts.

Data from four Fermi-detected gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are used to set limits on spectral dispersion of electromagnetic radiation across the Universe. The analysis focuses on photons recorded above 1 GeV for Fermi-detected GRB 080916C, GRB 090510A, GRB 090902B, and GRB 090926A because these high-energy photons yield the tightest bounds on light dispersion. It is shown that significant photon bun...

Prompt GeV emission in the synchrotron self-Compton model for Gamma-Ray Bursts

The detection in 10 bursts of an optical counterpart emission (i.e. during the prompt GRB phase) that is 10−104 brighter than the extrapolation of the burst spectrum to optical frequencies suggests a synchrotron self-Compton origin for the GRB emission, synchrotron producing the optical counterpart emission. In this model, the second upscattering of the burst photons yields a prompt GeV–TeV emi...
